Simify in 30 Seconds

Simify is an Australian eSIM provider that offers mobile data in 200+ destinations worldwide. At first glance, it looks similar to most travel eSIMs. You choose a destination, buy a plan, install the eSIM on your phone and use mobile data while you travel.

However, after personally testing Simify in 13 Countries, we’ve found that there’s more to it than that. Simify has the usual travel eSIM features, but the more interesting part is the combination of unlimited plans, hotspot support, Europe coverage, longer validity options of up to 6 months and a full refund option if something goes wrong.

That mix matters because it’s not always easy to find all of those things in one eSIM and for certain trips, it can be very useful. If you don’t want to keep worrying about how much data you’re using, you’re travelling across a region (especially Europe), or you need an eSIM that lasts longer than the usual 7 or 30 days, Simify could be a good fit.

That doesn’t mean Simify is perfect. We’ve been testing this provider across multiple countries as part of our wider eSIM research and our experience has been mixed. On the positive side, it has worked everywhere we’ve tried it, setup has been simple and our best recorded speed so far was 488 Mbps (Belgium). On the other hand, Simify hasn’t ranked at the top of our test groups in every country and its prices are higher than some other providers.

So, we think Simify is worth considering if you want convenience and flexibility (and you don’t mind paying a bit more for it). However, if your priority is finding the cheapest small data plan or the fastest provider for one specific destination, it’s worth comparing a few eSIMs first.

This is the most expensive plan in the lineup, but also the most convenient if you’re doing a bigger trip and don’t want to keep switching eSIMs.

This plan makes the most sense for digital nomads, long term travellers or people moving across multiple regions during the same trip.

Our Take on Simify’s Plans

The interesting part of Simify’s lineup is not just the standard eSIM setup. It’s the combination of larger data options, long validity periods, broad regional coverage and hotspot support on unlimited plans.

None of those things are completely unique on their own, but together they make Simify feel more flexible and convenient than many basic travel eSIMs, especially for longer or less predictable trips.

If you know you only need a certain amount of GBs for a short trip, you’ll find cheaper (and potentially faster) fixed plans elsewhere. Simify starts making more sense when your trip is less straightforward and you want flexibility without constantly thinking about your data usage.

The same applies if you need phone numbers, calls or SMS. Simify mainly focuses on mobile data, so it won’t be the best fit for everyone.

What Makes Simify Different?

Now that we’ve covered Simify’s plans and overall setup, let’s look at the areas where we think Simify stands out compared to other travel eSIM providers.

1. Long Validity Plans

Most travel eSIMs are built around short trips. Usually, you’ll see plans designed for 7, 15 or 30 days. That works perfectly well for a normal holiday, but things can get more complicated when you’re travelling for longer, moving slowly between countries or simply don’t want to keep buying a new eSIM every few weeks.

This is one of the areas where Simify feels different.

The first thing to mention is that some Simify plans are available for up to 180 days, which is roughly 6 months. That applies across their regional and global eSIMs.

There’s also a separate feature that allows you buy some regional eSIMs up to 6 months before your trip. The important thing is that the validity period only starts once the eSIM connects to a supported network in your destination.

So remeber, these are two different things:

To be honest, buying an eSIM 6 months in advance probably won’t matter to everyone. We personally wouldn’t buy travel data that far ahead unless we were very organised, but we can still see the appeal for people who like getting everything sorted early.

That said, we do always recommend buying and installing your eSIM a few days before travelling. It makes setup less stressful and means you can connect as soon as you land instead of trying to sort mobile data at the airport.

If you only need data for a short weekend trip, these long validity plans are probably more than you need. However, if you’re travelling for weeks or months, this feature can make things easier for you. We’ve done trips where we ended up juggling multiple eSIMs halfway through, so we can definitely see the value in avoiding that.

2. Simify Unlimited Data

Unlimited data plans aren’t unusual in the eSIM world, but not every provider offers them and not every unlimited plan gives you a daily high speed allowance that feels practical.

Simify’s unlimited plans include 1.5 GB of high speed data per day. For many of us, that’s enough to use maps, WhatsApp, browsing, social media, translation apps and general travel admin without constantly worrying about data.

Once you use the daily high speed allowance, speeds are usually reduced, so things may start loading more slowly. The good thing is that your high speed data resets every 24 hours, so you’re not stuck on slower speeds for the rest of your trip.

One extra detail we like is that Simify says you can contact support if you need more high speed data before the daily reset. We haven’t tested this ourselves yet, but it’s a useful option to have and not something we’ve see from travel eSIM providers.

3. Hotspot on Simify Plans

Simify supports hotspot on all plans, which means you can share your phone’s data with a laptop, tablet or another phone. Hotspot support itself isn’t unusual, but it becomes more useful when it’s paired with unlimited style data.

This came in handy for us when travelling with family members whose older phones didn’t support eSIM technology. Instead of sorting separate local SIMs or portable WiFi for them, we could share data from our phone when they needed it.

With fixed data plans, you do need to be careful. If someone else uses too much data through your hotspot, you can both end up without internet. However, because we were using an unlimited plan, we didn’t have to worry as much and we never ran out of data.

That said, sharing data with another phone is one thing. Sharing data with a laptop can be very different. Laptops can burn through data much faster, especially if they start syncing files, updating apps or loading heavy websites in the background.

Hotspot can also drain your phone battery quickly. When your phone is acting as a hotspot, it’s doing more work than usual, especially if another device stays connected for a while. If you know you’ll need to share data, it’s worth keeping a power bank nearby or plugging your phone in when you can.

Overall, we think Simify’s hotspot support is useful as a backup for light tasks and for those moments when hotel or airport WiFi lets you down. We wouldn’t rely on it as your main connection for full workdays, but as a flexible travel feature, it’s definitely useful.

4. Simify’s Europe & UK Plans

European trips are often multi country trips. You fly into one city, take trains between destinations and finish somewhere else entirely. That’s when buying one eSIM per country can get annoying quickly.

Simify’s Europe & UK plan covers 49 countries, which is one of the broader regional options we’ve seen so far. For context, Airalo covers 42 countries and Firsty covers 15.

That wider coverage is useful. One plan works across multiple destinations, so you don’t have to keep checking whether each stop is covered or switch eSIMs every time your route changes.

The longer validity periods also help. If you’re moving slowly through Europe or staying for an extended trip, having a plan that can last up to 6 months gives you more flexibility than most short trip eSIMs.

Another thing we noticed from our own testing is that Simify has performed better for us in Europe than in some other parts of the world. We’ll go into speeds and performance in the next section, but based on what we’ve seen so far, Europe looks like one of Simify’s stronger regions.

The honest caveat is that if you’re only visiting one European country for a few days and you don’t need much data, a single country fixed plan, either from Simify or another provider, may offer better value.

Simify’s Europe & UK plan makes the most sense when your trip is longer, flexible or spread across several borders.

5. Simify Refunds

imify promotes a 100% money back guarantee, which is rare to see from a travel eSIM provider.

We haven’t tested the refund process ourselves because we haven’t needed to request one. Still, the policy stands out to us because travel plans can change quickly. Flights get cancelled, people get sick before a trip or an eSIM may not work as expected once you land.

From what we’ve seen, you need to contact Simify’s support team to request a refund. We’d expect them to try to fix the issue first, which is fair enough, but it’s still useful to know that the money back option is there if you need it.

As always, we’d recommend checking the latest refund terms on Simify’s site before buying, as policies can change.

Our Simify Speed Test Results

This is where Simify has been a bit more mixed for us.

We’ve tested Simify in 13 Countries, including Belgium, Colombia, France, Korea, Malaysia, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, United Kingdom, United States.

Here are the speed test results we’ve recorded so far:

As you can see, Simify can be fast, especially in Europe. Our results in Belgium – 488 Mbps and UAE – 336 Mbps were a good example of that and support what we mentioned earlier about Europe being one of Simify’s stronger regions.

However, Simify underperformed for us in parts of Asia and not just in terms of speed. Singapore and Malaysia were particularly disappointing. The connection worked, but it felt more limited and basic in day to day use than we expected.

Across our testing so far, the pattern is clear: Simify has been reliable and occasionally very fast, but it hasn’t consistently ranked at the top of our test groups. That’s why we see it more as a convenience first eSIM than a performance first one.

For most everyday phone tasks, like maps, messaging, booking apps and social media, exact speed matters less than having a stable connection that works. On that front, we can’t really complain about Simify.

Speed becomes more important if you’re doing heavier things, like video calls, uploading content or using hotspot for a laptop. In those situations, Simify may feel more limited in some countries, although not everywhere.

We’ll keep testing Simify in more destinations and cover this properly in a full Simify review. For now, based on our experience, Simify should get you connected and handle most normal travel tasks without much trouble. However, if you need strong performance for heavier use, it’s worth comparing your options for the specific country you’re visiting.

Simify Setup

A good eSIM can still become frustrating if installation is unclear or getting connected after landing takes longer than it should. Fortunately, our Simify setup experience has been smooth in every country where we’ve tested it.

The setup process follows the usual travel eSIM flow, but our main advice is simple:

If your Simify eSIM doesn’t connect straight away, don’t panic and don’t delete it immediately. Most eSIM issues come down to setup, roaming settings, network selection or the plan not being active yet.

These simple checks are worth trying first:

Final Take

After testing Simify across multiple countries and comparing it against other providers in our guides, we’d describe it as a convenience first travel eSIM.

Simify makes the most sense when you want travel data to feel easier, more flexible and less fiddly. It’s not really about finding the smallest plan, the cheapest option or the fastest possible provider for one specific destination.

Its strength is the way several practical features come together: unlimited style data, hotspot support, broad Europe and UK coverage, longer validity options and a setup process that has been smooth in our testing so far.

That flexibility is the main reason Simify works well for certain trips. The unlimited plans reduce the stress of counting GBs. Hotspot support becomes genuinely useful when you need to share data with another device. The Europe and UK coverage fits the way many people travel around Europe, especially when a trip crosses several borders. The longer validity options are also helpful if you’re travelling slowly or staying away for longer than a standard 7 or 30 day plan allows.

Speed is where we’d add the main note of caution. Simify can be fast and our Belgium result makes that clear, but it hasn’t been the top ranked provider in every country we’ve tested.

So, our current verdict is simple: Simify is worth a spot on your shortlist if convenience, flexibility, hotspot support and regional coverage matter more to you than finding the cheapest small plan or the fastest eSIM for one specific destination.
