Is Holafly a good eSIM?
Holafly is a solid option for those looking for unlimited data. Recently, we’ve seen much improved speed scores so you’ll likely get quick speeds and signal is also generally strong, with limited dropouts. Pricing could be cheaper, however.
Holafly
Holafly testing across 16 Countries
We’ve personally speed tested Holafly in 16 Countries around the world, using networks including Orange, SK Telecom, Chunghwa Telecom, Singtel, AT&T, Movistar and others.
Some of our standout results include:
- Belgium: 534 Mbps on Orange, the fastest Holafly download speed we’ve recorded.
- France: 428 Mbps on Orange.
- Korea: 411 Mbps on SK Telecom.
- Taiwan: 370 Mbps on Chunghwa Telecom.
The results haven’t all been quick. Holafly dropped to just 5.34 Mbps during our Vietnam test on Mobifone, while tests in Macau and Hong Kong were also much slower than what we recorded in Europe and Korea.
That variation is one reason our opinion of Holafly has changed over time. We previously found speed to be one of its bigger weaknesses, but recent tests in countries such as Belgium, France, Korea, Spain and Taiwan have been considerably quicker.
Based on our testing across 16 Countries, along with our assessment of its pricing, unlimited data plans, app, features and customer support, Holafly earned an overall review score of 4.2/5. You can see the full breakdown in our Holafly review, eSIM speed test database and travel eSIM network database.

Holafly FAQs
Is Holafly legit?
Yes. We’ve bought, installed and personally tested Holafly eSIMs across 16 Countries. It’s also one of the most established travel eSIM providers we regularly test.
Does Holafly offer unlimited data?
Yes. Unlimited data is Holafly’s main selling point and is available for many of its destinations. Like other unlimited eSIMs, local carrier fair use policies can apply, so extremely heavy usage may result in temporary speed restrictions.
Does Holafly support hotspot?
Usually yes, but the amount of hotspot data depends on the plan and destination. Check the plan details before buying if tethering is important to you.
Is Holafly expensive?
Yes, generally. Holafly is often more expensive than fixed data eSIMs and it can also cost more than competing unlimited data plans. You’re mainly paying for the simplicity of having unlimited data, so it makes more sense for heavy data users than someone who only needs a few GB for a trip.
Does Holafly have a discount code?
Yes. Our Holafly discount code TRAVELESIMEXPERT currently gives 5% off regular eSIM plans and 10% off Holafly Global Plans. You can see our latest checkout verification and eligibility details in our Holafly discount code guide.
What should you do if Holafly isn’t working?
First check that the Holafly eSIM is switched on, selected for mobile data and has data roaming enabled. Turning airplane mode on for around 15 seconds and restarting your phone can also fix connection problems. Don’t delete the eSIM unless Holafly support tells you to. Our Holafly troubleshooting guide covers the full process.
How we test eSIMs
Speed Testing
We run 3 consecutive speed tests using Speedtest by Ookla in the same physical location with at least 3 out of 4 signal bars. If all 3 results fall within roughly a 15% download speed range, we record the highest result. If results vary more than this, we rerun the test to avoid random spikes or drops. This reflects realistic peak performance under stable conditions.
Stability Check
We use the eSIM normally over at least 2 to 3 days and note:
- Any full signal dropouts
- Whether reconnections happen automatically
- Whether any manual intervention is needed
If no issues occur, we state that explicitly.
Real-Life Usage Tests
We test every eSIM with common everyday tasks, including:
- General web browsing
- Google Maps loading and navigation
- WhatsApp messaging and media sending
- Uploading photos to cloud storage
- YouTube streaming (HD playback)
- Hotspot usage where supported, connecting a 2nd device
These checks confirm the connection is usable in real travel scenarios, not just fast in speed tests.
Customer Support Testing
We run quarterly support reviews across all providers using the same questions for each provider. We record and rate:
- Time to 1st human response
- Support channel used (live chat, email, WhatsApp)
- Whether the response is human or automated
- Whether the issue is resolved in the 1st interaction
- Overall clarity and usefulness of the reply
Support results shown in reviews reflect the most recent quarterly test.
